Again, thanks to your phone calls and letters, Steve Jenkins, a teacher at Graham High School in St.Paris,
Ohio, was charged with failure to painlessly kill an animal. On May 6, 1999, Mr. Jenkins, a pig farmer,
reportedly bludgeoned a piglet before bringing him into class for dissection. The piglet, however, survived
despite having his head bashed against concrete by a student and continued to suffer for approximately
five hours under the supervision of Jenkins.
Thanks to the compassion of Molly Fearing, a valued
and well-respected teacher at Graham High School, the piglet was taken to a veterinarian and humanely
euthanized.
Now, instead of commending Ms. Fearing for her actions and disciplining Mr. Jenkins,
James Zerkle, the school superintendent, has set out to discipline Ms. Fearing.
Please help stop
this injustice to Ms. Fearing. Write to Mr. Zerkle and the School Board and ask that they drop the disciplinary
investigation against Ms. Fearing.
